The Way We Work

Our Schedule

Consistency. Customers demand it. We understand it. Our crew will show up to mow your lawn on the day we’re supposed to.

Season Start and End

For 2010, our regular service starts on April 20th and ends on November 23rd. Weekly mowing clients are automatically converted to every other week on October 19th due to slower growth.

First Mow

Usually, we are able to mow the lawn the first time for the normal price. However, if we show up for the very first lawn mowing and the lawn is too overgrown to mow in the normal amount of time, we will have to charge by the hour for the first lawn mowing. After that, each lawn mowing will be the normal price as long as you stay on our service.

What’s Not Included?

We do not rake leaves for free. If you have large deciduous trees that produce a lot of leaf drop in the winter, and you don’t get it cleaned up, we will not clean it up for free when we return in the spring for the first lawn mowing. We will simply run our mowers over the leaves and disperse them to the best of our abilities with our blowers. Over time, with each mow, the leaves will become less noticeable. Please don’t expect our crews to do a leaf clean-up for free. If you would like to have us clean your leaves, we are available at our normal hourly rates.
We do not clean flower beds with a routine lawn mowing. If you would like to have us control the weeds in the beds when we are there to mow the lawn, we may do so for our hourly rate.

Surprises

When we quote a price for lawn mowing, it’s based on square footage and assumes a fairly open, flat lawn. The price we quote over the phone is the right price 95% of the time. However, if we show up and you’ve got obstacles everywhere, or if your lawn has a steep hill or a lot of retaining walls that create more work, our crew will mow your lawn on the first trip at the quoted price (provided it’s not over grown). We will then contact you and let you know of the price increase. If you agree, we’ll continue service. If you disagree, we’ll waive our six mow minimum and take you off the schedule.

Skipping

Sometimes customers call us to skip mows so they can save money when the lawn isn’t growing very fast. If we spend too much time on the mow after a skip because the grass is too tall or thick, we will charge our hourly rates. If you want to skip a mow, we need to be notified by 3:00pm the day before.

Sprinkler Heads

In the event that we accidentally damage a sprinkler head, call us the next day to discuss the damage.

Landscape Lights

If you have landscape lights installed in your beds, we shouldn’t have any problems. However, if they’re installed in the lawn, our line trimmers will likely damage them. We accept no responsibility for damage to landscape lights if they’re installed in the lawn.

Gates

If you want to keep your gate locked, its best if you use a combo lock and provide us with the combo. If the gate is locked when we arrive, we will not mow the back lawn. We do not discount our price if we’re unable to mow the back lawn. If you call us, we’ll return as soon as we can.

Pools

Pools create extra work for our crews. Even though there is less grass to mow, pools take more time because there is more to edge and trim. We also have to be careful to avoid getting too many clippings in the pool. Its impossible to service a pool account and not get any clippings in the pool, but we do work hard to minimize the mess. If you install a pool, we won’t raise your mowing price, but we won’t lower it either.

Scheduling

* Service Day & Time
We work Monday through Saturday. Our crews are in certain areas on certain days, so you will be assigned a specific mow day. Our crews follow the same route every week, so you will notice they will arrive about the same time each week. However, as we add customers it may change, so we cannot guarantee a day or time. Our crews sometimes work until 7 PM, so if your yard is not mowed by 5 PM, do not worry.

* Holidays
One of our top priorities is to show up on the designated mow day. So, we must ignore holidays if they fall on a Monday through Saturday. Since we have hundreds of yards on the schedule, there is no way we can skip a day & then catch up. If you want us to skip until your next scheduled mow, just email us or give us a call at least 24 hours in advance.

* Rain days
We try to finish our routes unless it is pouring rain all day, in which case, we push the balance of the weeks schedule 1 day. This is a strictly scheduled service, and we rely on you to call to skip if you think it is too wet to mow. However, if you skip, the mow will not be re-scheduled, so the grass will get tall which will create more problems, so we urge you to let us mow it wet.

* Bi-Weekly Schedule (every 2 weeks)
Bi-weekly mowing schedules are available, but please be advised that most yards will not look their best with less than weekly service. So, if you are particular about the looks of your lawn, you should schedule weekly service instead of bi-weekly service.

Communication

We prefer to receive requests through email. Email messages allow us time to review your property if you are not a customer; or your account if you are a customer. We usually reply quicker than you would expect.

Payments

A start up payment for our signature “Mow n’ Go” service is due prior to service beginning. Once service begins, a payment schedule will be set. Payments for any landscape estimation are as follows: 50% due at the time of contract signing. After that time a payment schedule will be in place which fits both our needs.
We accept the following payment options: cash, personal checks, money orders.

On-Going Service terms and Cancellation terms

There is no obligation on either party to begin or continue service. The “You like us & we like you” agreement makes for a mutually beneficial relationship. If you sign up as a customer, we consider you a customer on an on-going basis from season to season until you cancel. (Example: Our season begins the third week of April and continues thru the end of November; you sign up as a customer, for weekly service, in June; we come out on a weekly bases until the end of November; services are stopped during the winter; services start again the 3rd week of April and we come out on an on-going weekly basis again.) We are confident that you will be pleased with our services, but if for some reason you choose to cancel service, you must give a notice 48 hours prior to your next scheduled service date. No weekend cancellations for the following Monday.
